From PCB Panel to QC-Approved ESC: How We Manufacture and Test 4-in-1 ESCs

A reliable ESC is not simply a circuit board that powers a motor. Before an ESC reaches a customer, it needs to go through programming, functional testing, inspection and quality control.

In this article, we take you inside one stage of our 4-in-1 ESC production process, showing how a panel of ESC boards is processed, programmed, tested and finally released after QC inspection.

Step 1: Depaneling the ESC PCB

After PCBA production, multiple ESC boards are manufactured together on a single PCB panel. In this batch, six ESCs are arranged on one panel.
The boards are carefully separated using a dedicated depaneling fixture to minimize mechanical stress and protect sensitive components.

Step 2: Firmware Programming
Once the individual ESC boards are separated, each unit is connected to our programming equipment for firmware flashing.
Programming is an important step because the ESC needs to be correctly configured before functional testing.

Depending on the ESC model, we flash the corresponding firmware and configuration before moving to functional testing.

For our AM32-based ESC models, the corresponding AM32 firmware and configuration are programmed before testing.

Step 3:Functional Testing

Programming alone is not enough. Every ESC needs to be tested to verify that the programmed unit operates correctly.
Our technicians connect the ESC to the test system and perform functional checks using dedicated testing equipment.

Step 4:QC Inspection&Identification
After functional testing, the tested ESCs are inspected before being released to the next production stage.
Units that pass the required checks are identified with a QC mark, helping our production team distinguish tested and approved products from units that still require inspection

QC identification also helps maintain production traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

What Happens After Testing?

Only after the required programming, functional testing and QC checks are completed can the ESC move forward to the next stage of production and packaging.

The goal is simple: every ESC shipped to our customers should be a tested unit, not just an assembled PCB.
